Note | Jehu Grubb came to Ohio in 1811 from Lancaster, Pennsylvania. He was the unacknowledged son of Curtis Grubb, the Cornwall, Pennsylvania, patriot and ironmaster. Jehu served in the War of 1812, was a farmer, a Justice of the Peace, and served two terms in the Ohio House of Representatives. He had twelve children by three wives. Twice widowed, he lies here beside his third wife Elizabeth Harter, herself the widow of Abraham Bair. Jehu lived in Plain Twp., where his step-son built, in 1867, the beautiful and historic Jacob H. Bair house, still standing today. Jehu Grubb's history is memorialized in the plaque placed next to him by the family in 2004. For more about him, see his parents' memorials and: Jehu Grubb http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jehu_Grubb |
